Week #7

I have managed to use the program successfully and have grasped a decent understanding of how it works.  Below is a photo of what my new home page is to look like and what I have had to do to complete this.  I still don't have a name for my company/website as shown in the "enter name here store" within the photo.  What you see below is how I have had to start the setup for my website within the web application editor.  This is a project view and it allows me to see all my different resources available to me.  The page that contains all of my website is htmlpage.html and the .scss file below Is the file that allows me to play the video and have a more sleek and modern approach to it as the text goes up with a white border behind it.  I much prefer this look compared to how I originally had it and I enjoy the challenge it has offered for me.  I still need to make some more final polishes to the design choices of the website and make it look more appealing as the text is still plain and there are no images either.  I will also include a form too but I am unlikely to setup the PHP for that yet and might do it post-project finish.  Have also decided that reviews may also come post-project too as setting that up requires me normally to use a 3rd party program etc and I would rather show honest reviews rather than hand-picked ones that make me out as a god.

Week #6

Have received feedback on my website so I have now decided to remove the logo altogether and change the design language of the entire page as it looked clunky and unstylish.  For the redesign, I had chosen to have a video playing in the background and when you scroll it would show the text including a form that you can contact me from using the earlier PHP.  (This won't be working in the final version as I only run the PHP server locally).   To do this I have started using a new program visual studio 2019 and development tools called ASP.NET this just means I can create a web application and use code compilers for an scss file to make my life simpler (hopefully).  Below is the installation of the file with my video in the background.  Depending on how it all goes this could change and the difficulty it presents but as of now this is the program I will be using.

Week #5

Haven't progressed much this week and only added borders to my blurbs of writing plan to buckle down a little more to make sure that it's in high quality as its for the public to see.  Organising someone to create a logo for me and still deciding on a store name.

Week #4

Tested the PHP more and have got it to a condition that I'm more than happy with.  The design of my website is quite unappealing and bland at the moment and hasn't done much to make it exciting only have text as I've put most of my time into the PHP.  I don't particularly like this design as it's beyond bland and the other contact me page with my PHP form in it isn't even linked yet.  I will continue to work on it more thoroughly and then spruce up this page to make sure it's appealing and not bland.

Week #3

I have been learning PHP and how to set it up and use it effectively while also making sure what I do is secure. I have been playing around with it and have an emailing automation system nearly set up correctly.  What this does is take information from a form and will email it to me.  I plan to use this as a way of contact from my website.  I still need to make it more advanced and I plan to add an email verification system from the SMTP servers that the domain uses.

Week #2

Been learning more advanced CSS and HTML than I already knew so I could make the user experience better.  Started a basic format of the website through hand drawings at home.

Week #1 Introduction

Hi, my name is Max I am NCEA Level 1 student from Gisborne Boys High School.  I am learning how to code using HTML, CSS, Js, and PHP to create my website.  My website idea is for a contact/information site for device fixing (Phones, Laptops, and other devices).  This will include a form submission page that will email me with your contacts and what you'd like to have done, a contact page if it's absolutely urgent and a page talking about my services which will also include my reviews.  This is targeted towards a consumer who needs their device fixed and at a lower cost than competitors.  This will not only benefit me (as I would be getting paid) but also the consumer as I target a better price margin than other stores.
